Launched in 2016 by the Commission, the EU Action Plan against Wildlife Trafficking embodies a policy commitment by 28 Member States and EU Institutions to improve the lot of wildlife in the face of European and international market forces.

Running until 2020, it harbours 32 lines of actions for prevention, enforcement and global partnerships. In October 2018, a progress report was released making the case that good progress has been made but that efforts will need to be intensified to meet objectives.
